Do saunas need a lot of maintenance?

Maintenance shouldn't be a concern for a sauna. Traditional or infrared saunas require very little, if any, maintenance. The only maintenance really needed is to wipe down the walls and benches with a mild water and soap solution every once in a while.

What maintenance does a sauna need?

Occasionally vacuuming, sweeping and wiping down the bench and backrest will keep your sauna in good shape. Before entering the sauna, make sure to rinse your feet in the shower or in a bucket of water near the entrance. Failure to clean your feet can introduce debris and soil into your sauna.

Do you need to oil wood in a sauna?

You should only use the oil on the bench once or twice a year, so the whole process isn't all that time-consuming. Oil also protects the benches from dust and moisture and gives them (in my opinion) nice color and shine.

How to protect the wood in the sauna?

We recommend sealing the interior of the sauna, especially the wooden benches, with a special waterproof sauna sealant. This water-based sealant does not emit exhaust gas even at high temperatures and does not discolor the interior of sauna wood like other stains. It is absorbed by wood as quickly as water.
